FHMS Building Principal
8th grade Principal

Welcome to Francis Howell Middle, where “Excellence is the expectation and character development is ingrained in all we do!”

I am Ted Huff the Building Principal and this is my second year as the “lead learner” at Francis Howell Middle School. This is my eighth year as an administrator at Francis Howell Middle School. I am proud of the rich heritage and traditions that embody the Jr. Viking community.

Before coming to Francis Howell, I served as an Assistant Principal (Fort Zumwalt) and taught English and Drama (Mehlville and Fort Zumwalt). I have three sons. One is a freshman at the Community College, one attends Francis Howell High School, and one attends Francis Howell Middle. In my spare time I enjoy traveling with my wife and sons. I also enjoy reading and cheering on MIZZOU athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Academic Excellence is paramount and I appreciate the support our parents and staff provide for our students. Academic integrity is at the forefront of our endeavor to prepare our students for the challenges of academic rigor. We support the Character Education Initiative in all facets of our school community. From our Character Connection Class, to lunch, to Community Service, to after school activities, we embrace our Four Core Ethical Values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Compassion.

Francis Howell Middle is rich in tradition and parent involvement and support is welcomed. I invite you to join one of our many school-wide committees. Our Building Improvement Group (BIG), Parent Involvement Team (PIT), and Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) committees would enjoy your support.

As a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school, we support the inclusion of Social Media in the school setting. Teachers and students alike will be utilizing different facets of Social Media this year. In addition, you can follow us on Twitter: @News4FHMS (School Twitter Account) or @TedHiff (Dr. Huff’s professional Twitter Account).

We also introduced a Parent Twitter Chat this year. You can join us the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 7:00pm. You can find the chat at #FHMchat. The topics are always announced in advance of the chat. In addition you can check out our pictorial spotlights on Instagram: #News4FHMS.

This year, I also started my professional Blog. Here you can read my blog posts, check out books that we’re reading, and look into other connected learning information. My blog address is: www.TheodoreHuff.blogspot.com

I am looking forward to an enjoyable, enriching, and exhilarating school year. As always my door is always open so stop by and visit sometime soon!

I am extremely excited and honored to serve as the 7th grade assistant principal this year at Francis Howell Middle School. I grew up in the Francis Howell School District and attended Castlio Elementary, Hollenbeck Middle School, and graduated from Francis Howell High School. I am very proud to be a VIKING alum!

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from University of Central Missouri, a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration. I have also completed all coursework for my Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration and plan too officially complete this degree in a few years.

I am beginning my 11th year in the Francis Howell School District and my 2nd year at Francis Howell Middle School. Prior to this position, I was an assistant principal at Daniel Boone Elementary and I have taught at both the elementary (Independence Elementary) and middle school levels (Hollenbeck Middle School),teaching 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Communication Arts.

When I am not working, I love to travel and spend time with my husband and twin daughters, who keep us very busy! In addition to our twin two year olds, we are expecting another baby girl in late July. We are looking forward to having three under three!

Parent involvement is extremely important to me. I greatly appreciate the support of our parents and school community. There are many ways to become involved and volunteer your time. Your children need your involvement now more than ever! My door is always open, so please stop by or give me a call if you would like to become more involved. Here’s to another great year at Francis Howell Middle School!
